The Scariest Site EVER

February 15th, 2006

Yesterday evening my wife showed me a site that really blew me away. It’s called “The Way of the Master”, (http://www.wayofthemaster.com) and it is frightening, sad and hilarious all at the same time.

It is apparently the website for a show hosted by Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort (creepy last name) that teaches “Christians how to share their faith effectively and inoffensively”. It is evangelical Christian maddness at it’s peak.
If they (the “Masters”) are trying to be inoffensive with this website, thay have failed. You owe it to yourself to go in and checked out the High-speed (i.e. Flash) version of the site so you can see the nice little intro from Kirk where he separates everyone into 2 categories, Christian or Not a Christian, and then proceeds to tell all the non-Christians that they are probably not good enough people to go to heaven.

Have you obeyed the 10 commandments? Kirk will read the first 5 for you and illustrate just how inept all of us are at being “good people”. Give me a break. Are you Guilty or Not Guilty? Apparently there is no room for anyone in-between.

Honorable mention must go to the 10 Steps for New Christians content under the Tools menu at the top. I can’t link you directly to it because Brad Snow, who was evidently the creator of this website, knows how to make shiny Flash animations but does not know how to properly set-up a Flash site so that different elements can be linked to (I know how but would never, EVER, help you assholes out).
This is exactly the type of stuff that gives Christians a bad name and seriously hinders their credibility. I’m gonna have nightmares for weeks now…

So the web site just told me that I had angered god and that I will feel his terrible wrath. Thats a little heavy for a wednesday afternoon when I’m just mindin my own business drinkin starbucks. I thought there would be three or four sins that I had not yet broken, but apparently hating someone is just as bad as murder, and if you have hated someone then you are guilty of that sin. Well I hate that web site, so cross that sin off my list, I have officially committed all of them.

Christains are their own worst enemy in perpetuating their religion. Most of the concepts are not very appealing and it is a completely different language that is spoken (sins, grace, salvation, atonement, etc…who talks like that?). Being born into chistianity, being taught the concepts as though this was the way the world actually is, makes it easier to accept the concepts. I remember being told prepetually that if someone isn’t converted (”saved”) by the age of 18, they will be lost forever. I was encouraged to only have friends that were Christians because the enemy (”the devil”) will use the non-christians to bring me down and cause me to sin. The only reason I was to talk with non-christians was to show them the way (”the light”) and “save” them. The site is slightly less offensive than most christians are when they try to talk to you themselves about chrisitainity and is probably a nice site compared to others. The “scariest site ever” probably is praised an revered by many christains to be a great introduction into the world of christianity. THAT IS SCARY!

    interesting post…

The “Master,” is Jesus, not Cameron or Comfort. They follow Jesus’s example of evangelism from the Bible, so if you don’t like the idea that we are either innocent or guitly before God, then your problem is with God himself. Cameron and Comfort and merely messengers. Have you ever considered that their message is true? And, yes, the Christian message is offensive! No one likes to be told that they have offended God and are hell-bound!

    To: Jason

Ever consider that you are full of shit? That you are wasting your time? That it is a mere gamble of all the religions of the world that you think christianity is the only truth? What you missed and what most christians miss is that you all think you don’t offend anyone with your supossed message of love, but in your post, you are nothing but sarcastic and belittling and show nothing of love, but everything of the pure egotism that christianity represents and supports. You don’t even say one thing that makes me want to listen to what you believe. I believe that was the point. The web-site claims to be non-offensive but is very offensive and seeks to gain new believers out of guilt and fear and not out of love. Jesus would have sent a cease and desist to this website ’cause he would have been offended!

I don’t have a problem with people believing in what they want to belive in. I have a problem with people telling me WHAT I should believe in. Who are they to say?

My message with this post is was that it is scary to me how caught-up in a belief system people can get and how unforgiving and close-minded it seems. Is it really realistic to think that Christians, out of all the thousands of religions out there spread out over thousands of years, are the ones who got it right?

    How arrogant is that?

I appreciate that your religion is a way for you to cope with the trials of this world, but what works for you dosen’t work for everyone. Realize that and ye shall truely be saved.

  8. MASTERCHIEF Says:

you shall be saved only if you have a big trampoline and a suburban.
