Rock Chicks Are HOT
March 30th, 2006I’ve been to 2 great rock shows over the past week (New Pornographers and Metric) and if I take only one thing away from these experiences that will stick in my mind for a long time, it’s that rock chicks are HOT! Why is this? What is it about girls on stage belting their heart out to the crowd? It completely transforms them. They don’t even have to be ACTUALLY that hot, just give them a mike and a crazy soundtrack and suddenly it’s like I’m staring at Anna Kournikova in a wet t-shirt.
An example, would be the lead singer of Metric. She is pretty cute, no doubt, but on-stage she is just plain hot.
Granted, she was wearing a super-short tennis skirt-type outfit and was definitely evoking the spirit of Kournikova. I mean, I can’t really even see her that well but it dosen’t matter.
This phenomenon is unique to rock chicks as far as I can tell. I don’t have the same response to hip-hop chicks (although if I saw Lauren Hill that might change my mind). I haven’t had the same response to pop chicks (actually I take that back, Gwen Stefani was totally callingmy name at the Key Arena). And I’m not really feeling all hot-and-bothered by bleeding heart chicks or goth-idol chicks (ok, I guess Fiona Apple and Tori Amos both seemed like the perfect bedmates on-stage).
Sheesh, I guess all you have to do to get my attention is stand on-stage with a mic and breath hard. I’m easy.

Rock chicks are hot, it is very hard to think of an exception, maybe Janis Joplin, not the hotest rocker chick, but had the sexy-smoked-too-many-ciggies-rock-voice. The New Pronograhers show definitely rock’d the Ham, it has been a while since I had been to a rock show that ended too quickly for my taste, they could have played another set and I would have loved it. Super high energy.

Wow, the Stallastar girl is definitely hot. Thanks for the additional evidence to support my very easy-to-defend position on rock chicks! :-)

Not a hard thing to do. Rockers in general have a slightly amped coolness factor working for them.
