Mobile Gardening
April 23rd, 2006I decided the other day that it was a good day for a car wash. Spring is in the air, the weather is nice and it’s time I start taking some better car of my auto. So I did the drive-through car wash thing, which took car of the outside of the vehicle, but I still had the inside to do. And that’s when I discovered my little mobile garden.
In between the passenger door and the body of my vehicle I noticed a few green leaves peaking out from a space in the door jam. It looked like some plant matter had been caught in the closing of the door and trapped in the door jam. I tried to pull them out, but it became clear that these little guys were actually rooted in the crevice and after doing some poking and digging I discovered that this crevice contained a small flower pot’s worth of dank, dark soil. There were actual plants growing in my door jam!
Photo documentation of my mobile garden can be seen here.
Needless to say, I was shocked. All of these years I have looked upon those hippie-driven VW vans with planter boxes on the top and all kinds of greens growing freely and thought, “Man, that’s so cool. They can just whip up a salad full of fresh greens anytime from the top of their car!”
Little did I know that I too had a mobile garden on my car. I think my hippie-factor just increased a few points.

LOL, that’s funny. Nice pic of the car, looks more like my car than yours, the girl makes it hard to tell though. That is was big pile of dirt you excavated from your car.
