Am I Turning Into a Borg?

May 31st, 2006

I feel like the little Bill Gates icon on Slashdot right now. You know, the one that looks like this:

Bill Gates

Ever since I accepted a job at Microsoft I have been exploring the MS sites like MSN and Windows Live with a more astute attention than ever before. As I discover more and more about the breadth and dept of the features and content available on these sites, I have the feeling that I am slowly becoming a borg-like being.

Why you might ask? I can’t really explain it. I feel like these new pieces of functionality that I didn’t know were available from Microsoft in an online environment are being welded onto my body for me to become one with and know like, literally, the back of my hand.

One could say that this is a result of me readying myself for using nothing but MS products in the workplace for the foreseeable future. Perhaps, but…

Maybe, just maybe, I am feeling more like a borg because I can now harness this vast array of web-greatness that is Windows Live and use it to wield great power over the countless non-Microsoft beings out there!!! Yes!

Actually no. That’s not it at all (although I may need to get one of these to counter-act the borg-effects).

I think the main reason I am assimilating all this knowledge about the MS sites is it’s something new to explore and figure out, and I’m excited by that.

Whatever the case may be, I look forward to my new borg-like identity and warn you all now not to mess with me, because I just may have a red MSN lazerbeam fused to my head and take you out bitch!
