No Washing The Remotes

September 12th, 2006

I haven’t done laundry in years. My wife won’t let me. She has some serious trust issues when it comes to letting other people do her laundry. This might seem like a paradise for any husband. And indeed, it has been. Until a couple Sunday’s ago, I was cool with that arrangement.

That fateful morning was the morning that Willa put one of our remotes through the washing machine cycle. Yes, that’s right. Straight up washed the remote to our Bose Wave Radio. I was aghast thinking of the implications this had. Was the TiVo remote next? Certainly not seeing that the TiVo device is her precious. No, more likely my 360 remote would be the next victim, or *gasp*, one of my controllers!

So hear this woman, there will be no more washing remotes!

(As a side note, my wife would have you know that the washed remote now works better that it did prior to the wash, but I’ll have you know that is not the point and the fact that it is still working is a miracle)

Gotta watch out for that sneaky business. You are going to have to check all the pockets now, before every load of laundry, to keep the malicious remote deeds in check!!! Or get a pay back with slipping the TiVo remote into a pair of jeans to see if it works better after a rinse cycle.
