Reports From Inside: Soapbox on MSN Video

October 18th, 2006

Microsoft is innovating again! This time the newness of what we are doing is so shiny and sparkly you might be blinded by our brilliance.

You might have thought to yourself, everyone has a video camera these days, why isn’t anyone leveraging the power of the web to enable users to share these videos and search other peoples videos as well?

Well, Microsoft is taking the bull by the horns and making this dream a reality! Not only have we just released a beta of a video uploading/sharing site (I know, we are already at beta with this baby!!), we are building in a bunch of cool extra features that will leave our competitors in the dust.

Are you ready? Prepare yourself. Here are the never-before-seen extras:

  • Tag Videos - categorize your videos so other users can find them. Wow!
  • Embed Videos - put videos into your blog or, even better, email links to them to your friends. Double wow!
  • RSS Video Feeds - subscribe to a special RSS feed to be notified of new videos you are interested in. Wooooooooooooooooooow!

Blown away yet? I thought so. Just another one of the ways Microsoft is leading the pack.

Check out Soapbox on MSN Video (Beta!) here.

(As if you couldn’t tell, I used Windows Live Sarcasm Writer Plus to write this blog post)

Hummmm, maybe Google will buy it?

I was almost blinded. I would be if my 360 could play my videos. That would be innovation.
