Massive Painting Session II

October 23rd, 2006

Abram and I had another day-o-painting last Saturday, just 2 weeks after the previous paint fest. We continued on our quest of complete and utter mastery of the acrylic medium. I must say, we are making progress.

Abram continued on his epic masterwork that may damn well take a few more full days of painting to complete. I set aside my painting from last session (still not finished, but getting closer!) to try something a little different.

The painting to the right is my work from Saturday. It is of the sunrise over Lake Washington. I wanted to do something more impressionistic than my other paintings, moving away from my strict illustrative style to focus more on mood, lighting and color.

I think I’ll probably do a series of these, as I captured another, very different and very pretty sunrise this morning.

nice dude, did you use a fanbrush?

No, but I need to get one of those for sure. It would have made some of the water effects easier I think.

I used only a couple of brushes for this. A small and a large flat tip brush.
