Pre-Turkey Day Paintfest

November 19th, 2006

The painting juggernaut that is Abram and myself continues to roll forward. There is no stopping us now. I added another piece to my sunsets series this past weekend. This one involved using lots of yellow, purple and gray all mixed together with great result.

The Golden Sunrise As you can see, I obviously take my artistic license seriously, as my finished pieces are starting to look less and less like the original image and more like how I imagine the scene in my mind.

I tried something different this time as well, mixing some high-gloss “soft gel” with my paint to do the water. It’s hard to tell in the picture but the gel has a great smoothing effect on the canvas which lends itself very well to doing water.

That might be it for the sunsets series, but you never know. If I get a good picture between now and the next day-o-painting I might have to do another.

Anyone got a picture I should paint?

Yos, killa day of painting. Maybe it was the Double Bastard that made the painting look less like real life.

Ahh yes, the tasty brew served on paint days always serves to loosen the facets of reality…
