Cramping My Style

May 25th, 2007

I’ve been embroiled in work lately. Yes…embroiled is the term I want to use. It fits the situation perfectly. For those of you who know of the term ”go-live” and work in the IT world, you know that if you are going through a “go-live” your life is hell.

Long hours are a given, as all of those loose ends left till the last minute are tied up…or not. All email received during this time is looked upon tensely, as if one might receive an email that dooms them to a “slip” and fall into the inevitable “fire-drill mode”. And free time, ah heavenly free time. It is quickly swallowed whole by the beast of burden.

Luckily for me, holiday weekends still happen, regardless of the “go-live”, and give me an impenetrable armor against which even the most pressing of work matters are repelled.

I hate work yo!! I can’t even take vacation days without people calling me about work. I never wanted to be that guy that couldn’t get away from work. Unfortunately, I’ve found out that the harder you work the more work there is to be done.
